Thought of The Day 37

"I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances." - Martha Washington

Thought of The Day 36

Thought of The Day 35

What ought to be done to the man who invented the celebrating of anniversaries? Mere killing would be too light. Anniversaries are very well up to a certain point, while one's babies are in the process of growing up: they are joy-flags that make gay the road and prove progress; and one looks down the fluttering rank with pride. Then presently one notices that the flagstaffs are in process of a mysterious change of some sort--change of shape. Yes, they are turning into milestones. They are marking something lost now, not gained. From that time on it were best to suppress taking notice of anniversaries. Mark Twain

Thought of The Day 34

If you think that once you are going to laugh at the whole thing, why not do it now?

Thought of The Day 33

"Youth is not a time of life - it is a state of mind. It is not a matter of red cheeks, red lips and supple knees. It is a temper of the will; a quality of the imagination; a vigor of the emotions; it is a freshness of the deep springs of life. Youth means a tempermental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over a life of ease. This often exists in a man of fifty, more than in a boy of twenty. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people grow old by deserting their ideals." - Samuel Ullman

Sad Things In Life 2

Life. It is the most favorite thing of most people. For me at least. When it ends, what is going to happen? Why do I think of these things is that my 87-years old Mother-In-Law is right now in the hospital in a sad condition. I do not know if she is going to make it. But we do hope. I don't know, why. I don't know where dead people go (if anywhere) but I do know that they often remain very much alive in the minds of those who they leave behind. Good. But sad.

Sad Things In Life

To My Wife And Daughters

My Mother-in-Law is 87 years old and in the hospital with a condition that doesn't look promising. Being a tough woman she may recover. But for the time being I am not confident.
Sorry my darlings, but it looks like that.

Thought of The Day 27

Silloin tällöin on vallan ruhtinaallista olla tekemättä mitään ja sen jälkeen levätä. Translates like this: "Sometimes it's totally devine just to do nothing and then rest afterwards."

Fire In The Hotel

Last night (which is actually still going on, can't sleep) there was a fire alert in the hotel where I am staying in Oulu.

It turned out to be a 'Cry Wolf'-warning but still. When you wake up in a strange place because of a strange noice and gradually understand that it is not the phone nor your wake-up call, it is scary. I put some clothes on and ran down the emergency stairs to the street. Lycky it was a false alarm because in next ten minutes maybe only some fifteen people had come down! The firemen found out that the reason was something trivial in the hotel restaurant's kitchen. Made me think of my life and life as a rule again.

"Life is like a library owned by the author.
In it are a few books which he wrote himself,
but most of them were written for him."
Harry Emerson Fosdick

What's Your Sixth Sense?

Adopted from Mischievous Muse

I have an unusually strong psychic talent in the area of Precognition.
This means I have an uncanny ability to look into the future and anticipate what is going to happen. By knowing something's going to occur, I can even change the outcome of events for the better. (Huh, I'd like to see this happen!)
The in-depth analysis also shows I have other hidden psychic strengths including retrocognition (the ability to know what has happened in the past), telepathy (the ability to sense people's true thoughts) and clairvoyance (the ability to see the unknown).

Thought of The Day 23

"You have a lifetime to work, but children are only young once." - Polish Proverb
If only more people remembered that.

Although I did not have a son but had two totally incredible daughters, I hope they feel like this, too. Sniff.

Ides of March

Julius Caesar's bloody assassination on March 15, 44 B.C., forever marked March 15, or Ides of March, as a day of infamy. The phrase came to represent a specific day of abrupt change that set off a ripple of repercussions throughout Roman society and beyond. Inspired by Mischievous Muse

Alaskan Malamute

I scored 82% Loyal and 66% Independent!

I was most like Alaskan Malamute:

Originated in Alaska, USA, this breed is friendly, affectionate, and loyal, but can have a mind of its own. The malamute is built to work well within a team, and its friendliness makes it unsuitable for a watchdog, but brave enough to pull 110% of the load. Once set in a direction these dogs will continue in that track until someone with a firm hand and kind heart sets them onto a new destination. They are loving, but a workhorse that grows restless with too little to do.
I have to include this into my CV !

The What Breed Of Dog Are You Test

What Time Of Day

I Am Sunrise

You enjoy living a slow, fulfilling life. You enjoy living every moment, no matter how ordinary.
You are a person of reflection and meditation. You start and end every day by looking inward.
Caring and giving, you enjoy making people happy. You're often cooking for friends or buying them gifts.
All in all, you know how to love life for what it is - not for how it should be.

Toupee Or Not Toupee

In my country I am the Product Manager for a medicine called Propecia. It is a product for treatment of hair loss, alopecia areata. So all of the sudden I invented this (to my mind) brilliant slogan for AD's:
Toupee or not toupee, that's NOT the problem!. Don't tell anyone..

Friends, uh?

I hope you are a friend 4 me.

Thought of The Day 20

Because this is my 20th (Yippee, there are at least that many!) ToTD I thought it should be really something related to me. Even if thought of by someone else first. So here it comes; `I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.'

Melpomene

Melpomene is the patron goddess of tragedy. Melpomene is often represented by a tragic mask and is sometimes depicted with a crown of cypress leaves and a club. Despite her tragic side, Melpomene means "The Songstress" because her chanting and singing inspires listeners. Read more...
